Introducing New Initiatives
In recent years, as the Lord has given Small Town Summits increased opportunities to serve churches and church leaders in the isolated corners of New England, our hearts have yearned to do still more. But we had neither the resources nor personnel to pursue these desires.
In God’s kindness, in 2025 he has provided a sizable grant to Small Town Summits from the Lilly Endowment through STS's relationship with Rural Home Missionary Association (RHMA). By God’s grace, and because of this provision, over the next 5 years, David Pinckney, the Director of New Initiatives will seek to accomplish 4 goals:
RECRUIT
We will be visiting Christian colleges and seminaries to call young people to bring their callings and careers to small-town New England for the sake of the gospel. A special focus will be on getting young men called to pastor to come and spend a few years or their lives serving in rural residencies and pastorates.
ENCOURAGE
We will provide meaningful ways to encourage young pastors and their wives in their first five years of ministry in small-town New England. This includes all-expense paid retreats for these couples with a goal of building lasting rhythms and relationships for sustained, long term joyful ministry.
Coach
We will provide onsite and remote consulting to pastors and churches that are “stuck” and are open to counsel and coaching. Small-town New England pastors and churches often don’t have the resources or connections for such input. With hand picked mentors/coaches, we will offer this free of charge.
Collaborate
We will work with other Christian ministries in New England and beyond to help strengthen small-town ministry. The Lord is working among multiple ministries to equip and encourage pastors and churches in our region.
